An Unexpected Servant
By Lisa Crews

“I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.” Isaiah 41:9-10

My real relationship with Christ didn’t begin until I was covered in dirt and ashamed of the life I was living. During that time, He wouldn’t leave me alone.  He kept calling me out of my slumber, pulling me down to the altar to be prayed over and giving me glimpses of the life He had planned for me. It was so hard for me to believe that I was worth saving.
When I look back, I never question the struggle I went through, because that was His way of showing me that with Him…ANYTHING is possible! His arms were always open for me, and I was wrapped in his armor. I remember the promise He made to me, and it feels as glorious as it did when He shared it with me all those years ago.
We are all worthy of saving. We are all worthy of love. We are all worthy of serving the Lord.

Reflection Questions:

•When is a time that you didn’t feel like you were worthy of being chosen?
•How did you share that with God? Did you share that with God?
•Can you identify areas in your life that He has chosen you?

Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, I ask that You cover us in your soft embrace, shielding us from the hurt and negativity that we bring upon ourselves. Let us rejoice in Your love and saving grace that You so easily grant us. May we bring this joy to our neighbors and allow others to feel worthy in Your light. Amen.
